Session Information

Everything you need to know about a session.

So, you've booked your session. Now what?
  • Before the session:
    • Bathe your animal the day before the session.
    • Most of the sessions start in the morning. If your pet is used to getting breakfast, then feed only a partial breakfast.
  • During the session:
    • Sit back and relax! I can take care of everything.
    • It’s okay if your pet doesn’t know how to sit or stay. I will work with them so they know what I want.
    • Feel free to go through any props that you would like to use! I have a huge selection of items that we can use.
  • How long are the sessions?
    • The Pupper and Barkday sessions are thirty (30) minutes long.
    • The Wolf and the Doggo sessions typically last an hour and a half to two hours.

How to prepare for your session
          • If your animal isn’t used to flash photography, practice with your phone! Be sure to use the flash each time. Also, make sure to reward and give lots of praise!
          • If your animal is still not used to the flash by the time the session comes, I will work with your animal to desensitize him/her to the flash
I booked a Barkday Party Session. I'm not sure where to get a cake or other decorations.
              • I typically use The Doggie Express for cakes and cookies. They are wonderful and near to the studio. If you decide to use them, please let them know it’s for a session with me. I will work directly with them on colors and themes.
              • I do not provide the cake or cookies for this type of session. If you order from The Doggie Express, I am happy to pick up the cake and/or cookies. Balloons. I will provide the balloons, if requested. You can also get balloons anywhere you like. I really like That Balloon Girl and she will customize your order for the session.
              • I always have confetti, but not all dogs approve. I make sure that any of the items that I use with your animal are non-toxic and pet-safe.
              • I have three (3) cake stands to use.
              • I have birthday hats.
              • If you want a particular theme, I am more than happy to have props that will follow the theme.
                  Color Powder Sessions
                  • These are special sessions that I hold inside the studio.
                  • They are EXTREMELY messy.
                  • These will be offered occasionally over a specified weekend.
                  • Your dog does NOT have to be able to jump. I know how to make them shake and those are some of my favorites.
                  • Be sure to bring a couple of towels with you.
                  • Sometimes, the powder will stain the fur. It may or may not come out with a shampooed bath. If not, it does eventually come out. o If you have specific colors you would like to use, let me know!
                  • Typically, these are done using a black background. I want the color and the dog to really stand out.
                  • I have an adjustable jump that can be used to these sessions. Again, your dog does not have to jump to create an incredible image.
                      Monochrome Images

                      Monochrome images

I love to photograph monochrome images.

                      • Black dog on black background
                      • White dog on white background
                      • Blue (grey) dog on grey background
                      • Brown dog on brown background

These images can be very dramatic and noticeable.

You will easily be able to see your dog on the same color background.

                      Bright images vs. Moody images

                      • We can easily discuss what type of images you are wanting.
                      • I love both the bright, happy colors and the darker, moody colors
                      • In a Doggo Session, you have the option to do both!
                          Props
                          • I have a huge variety of props. Really. A lot. I have a problem.
                            • Bow ties
                            • Neck ties
                            • Bows

                            • Fake flowers
                          • These are only a few options available.
                          • I am always looking for new items! (Like I said… I have a problem)
                              Use of Props
                              • At the beginning of every session, I photograph them without anything on. (nekkid!)
                              • As we progress through the session, I start to add items to the animal.
                                • I will never force a dog to wear something
                                • I work with the animal to see how tolerant they are of the items we would like to use.
